Double celebration as Glen Scotia named as Scottish Whisky Distillery of the Year

A outstanding set of results for Loch Lomond Group at the annual Scottish Whisky Awards last night in Glasgow.

The annual Scottish Whisky awards took place in Glasgow last night, and were delighted with the results across our portfolio, including the highest accolade of the evening, Scottish Whisky Distillery of the year for Glen Scotia.

The Scottish Whisky Awards is now in its third year and aims to recognise the best Scotch on the market by rewarding people and teams working to deliver Scotland’s greatest global product. The independent competition is judged by a panel of experts drawn from across the sector, bringing together industry experience and market knowledge to recognise the greatest achievements in the production of Scotch.

The awards judge categories on both business and whisky tasting categories. The business awards are presented to highlight the world-leading and innovative performance of Scotland’s whisky distillers in a range of categories covering marketing, tourism and innovative business practices. The tasting category is a blind tasted by an independent tasting panel and the products achieving the highest marks are awarded gold, silver and bronze medals.

The ultimate award of the night was presented to Glen Scotia as the Scottish Whisky Distillery of the Year,  with praise for “its commitment to the community, excellent product development and high-quality standards achieved in a challenging year."

This prestigious award comes just seven months after being crowned as the ‘Best in Show’ and thus Best Whisky In The World 2021 at this year’s San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) for our Glen Scotia 25 year old single malt.

In addition to receiving the highest accolade of the evening, 2 of Glen Scotia's core range whiskies were awarded with medals.  Glen Scotia 15 Year Old was awarded a gold medal in the Single Malt 13-16 Year Old and Glen Scotia Double Cask a silver medal in the Single Malt No Age Statement category.

We are equally delighted with the taste awards received across the rest of our portfolio. Our recent release, Spearhead Single Grain Scotch Whisky received a gold medal, Clansman Blended Scotch received a bonze medal and Loch Lomond Single Grain Scotch Whisky a silver medal.

We would like to thank KDMedia for another incredible award ceremony, and a huge congratulations to all of the other finalists and winners.
